                           Desert cubs complete successful Sri Lanka tour
Children of expatriate community domiciled in UAE toured Sri Lanka to play cricket matches with their counter parts here. It was a grueling schedule for the under11, 12, 13, 15 & 17 and all playing 35 matches in Colombo, Kandy & Galle was no easy task, But, enthusiasm, dedication and love to emulate the national counterparts and their wish & prayer is to bid a place in the national team of their motherland was the ultimate aim. Some of the players were from India & Pakistan too.The tour party commenced their matches since 4th August, against well reputed schools/ Academies; St Peter, St Josephs, MCA, Nalanda, Trinity, Dharmaraja, Mahinda, and Seenigama Academy with all matches ending as close encounters. Each of the age category played 7 matches each, and out of 7 matches, five matches were won by the under 13 team, and Four wins were recorded by the under 15 team. The Less than 17 and fewer than 12 recorded one and three wins respectively. All the players were up to the task and some excelled exceptionally well during the tour namely; Ranul & Ramal Perera ( brothers), Dillion & Ryan Bastians ( brothers ), Nelukshan & Jonathan ( brothers), Renaldi Dias, Kulith Rabel, Zafri, Varuna Perera, Atharva, Rithik, Imran, Aaron.The credit goes to all the players who gave their very best in all departments of the game and their DCCA coaches and management team, Presley Pollonowita founder and CEO of the club, said. Most notable feature is that these DCCA boys in UAE get to practice two days a week and being able to match their counterparts in Sri Lanka, and having won many matches portray the abundance of talent which DCCA has on offer.With the conclusion of their tour on 13th August, the Gala Dinner / Award Ceremony was held at Taj Samudra Hotel on the 15 of August evening and the occasion was graced by honourable A. H.M Ashwar MP and was a night to remember with Mutthiah Muralidaran living legend being the guest of guest of honour along with Mahroof; national cricketers with full of entertainment for all the players, DCCA management, parents and other distinguish guests. While many prices and awards were distributed to many players who excelled in the tour, two special awards were given to player of the tournament junior & senior; Ranul Perera was awarded the best player juniors, and Renaldi Dias was adjudged as the best player seniors’. While accepting the award they both said that the award was a great encouragement to their cricketing journey which has a long way to go promising to come back with much stronger performance next year and their dream would be to represent their motherland.
